ELIZABETH CITY, NC -- Elizabeth City State University says the mold growing in five buildings on campus is not toxic.
The university released findings from last month's state investigation.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services reports show high levels of mold spores in sections of the Fine Arts building, the hall of the Jenkins Science Center and the G. R. Little Theater.
Last month, fine arts students complained of a bad smell in the band room.

University Chancellor Willie Gilchrist says a faulty roof, rain and poor maintenance are to blame for problems there.
The theater remains off limits.
“It is not safe, in our opinion, because it is a toxic mold there.
